Super Gyros
About This Spot
Walking up to Super Gyros, you’re met with an unpretentious vibe that feels like a secret handed down rather than a flashy new discovery. Nestled on a quiet stretch in Normal, this spot hums with the comfortable rhythm of a fast-casual neighborhood joint where the focus is on straightforward, satisfying food and friendly, easy-going service. The atmosphere is unassuming — no frills, just genuine warmth that invites you to slow down just enough to enjoy a pause in your day.
Inside, the pace is brisk yet welcoming, where the clatter of plates and the hum of conversation weave together effortlessly. There’s a reassuring feel to the setup, reminiscent of classic Midwest diners but with a Mediterranean twist — a place where locals swing by for a well-made meal that feels like a small celebration of familiar flavors and honest ingredients.
The menu plays a quiet but vital role in rounding out the experience, offering generous portions that never feel rushed or overwhelmed by complexity. Whether it’s the comforting embrace of a gyro piled high with tender meat and bright, crisp vegetables or the unexpected delight of crispy fries that could easily steal the spotlight, the dishes here invite you to settle in and savor each bite. Small touches — feta cheese, a hint of banana peppers, or the delicate sweetness of baklava to finish — add layers to what might seem like modest plates, elevating them with a warm authenticity.
More than just a place to grab a quick meal, Super Gyros carries the spirit of a local gem where presence and authenticity matter. The team’s friendly approach and willingness to bend the rules a bit, like welcoming guests even when the sign points to drive-through only, pins this spot firmly as a meaningful stop in the area’s culinary landscape. It’s quietly proud, comfortably unpolished, and wholly sincere — the kind of place where you can be sure that every visit feels like arriving home.

A total hole in the wall that reminds me of the best spots in Chicago. No frills. Good food.

Excellent gyros! Price is right. We had 30 minutes for a stop in Bloomington on our way to Chicago.

The owner here is super friendly and let us in even though the sign said "drive through only". The gyros are delicious, although the portion sizes were more modest than other gyro shops.

The food was great, their fries alone are phenomenal! Service is good, selections are good too. Portion size is generous as well.

Food is always fresh and the service is friendly and professional. I come here whenever I can, because I know I will enjoy my dinner and it will be made correctly.
